A member asked:

How common are oral warts from genital hpv? can you get them when you share a cup with someone who has oral warts or am i just paranoid?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

HPV and Oral Cancer: While the number of people with oral hpv infection has increased, the transmission is still considered to be sexual. Sharing a cup with someone with known oral hpv (which is not easily detected unless they have hpv + oral cancer) does not seem to be a risk factor. Smoking, having multiple past sexual partners (or a partner who does) and known genital hpv infection increases the risk for oral hpv.
