Chronic Management?: Hypokalemic nephropathy (hn) arises from chronic low potassium. This can be caused by certain medications (e.g. Diuretics, laxitives) or diseases (e.g. Anorexia nervosa). Hn is the end effect of scarring that occurs. It reduces kidney blood flow and function, leading in some cases to kidney disease or need for dialysis. Potassium supplementation can be helpful in stabilizing or reversing hn.
