Alcohol and Health: Not really. There may be some who dispute this given that there is some anecdotal evidence that limited amounts of red wine can be protective of heart or arterial disease. But, alcohol in general has no nutritional value. The calories from alcohol can increase obesity. Sleep patterns are disturbed on alcohol and a long and persistent alcohol use can lead to weakened brain function and sadness.
