What is the benefits of me cutting out alcohol completely?

You decide: You asked. Either you are marrying a teetotaler, or you have some concerns that you may be losing self-control with respect to alcohol. There is no disadvantage to stopping alcohol use except that your circle of friends is likely to change (perhaps for the better, but if alcohol's important to work-friends, it can be hard.) if looking hard, you think it's hurting you overall, then stop.
