BRBPR: There are several possible conditions that cause bright red blood per rectum. For a patient your age the most likely causes are bleeding internal hemorroids or anal fissure. Hemorroids are less likely to cause pain, whereas anal fissures can cause significant pain during defecation. Regardless, you should see a doctor about it to find the exact cause. There are some more serious conditions to r/o.
