A member asked:

Do hiatus hernias ever go away ? i was diagnosed two years ago, and since then i have been normal apart from the odd stomach cramp

A doctor has provided 1 answer

They can be treated.: Hiatal hernias are not rare like was supposed many years ago, and as weight-loss surgery has been done recently, sometimes hiatal hernias are treated w/this surgery. But they don't have to be always. Having an odd stomach cramp occasionally is not unusual for any person, but if it's your hiatal hernia that is hurting, follow-up with your family doc and get it checked out.
