A member asked:

Mom has ft dementia (mid-stage), is inactive, 40 lb weight gain in a year, sleeping 12+ hours a day. are these signs that the disease is accelerating?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Not necessarily: Frontotemporal dementia is a progressive disease so you can expect the symptoms getting worse. Gaining weight is quite common and sleeping more does not indicate faster progression.
