My mom ran out of plavix (clopidogrel) and hasn't taken it for 4 days. her neurologist told her to take 4 at one time to make up for it is this safe?

Maybe necessary: If she is at very high risk of stroke, it would be reasonable to take 4 tabs of Plavix (clopidogrel) to compensate for the missed doses. The risk of bleeding is always there, but it's just a matter of balancing risk/benefit. 300mg of Plavix (clopidogrel) is recommended initially in acute coronary syndrome. So the dose is not unreasonable.

Unknown: The effects of Plavix (clopidogrel) on blood clotting are present for up to a week. The usual recommendation is to resume the usual Plavix (clopidogrel) dose if dosing has been interrupted for any reason such as surgery or unavailability of the medication. Additional doses are most likely not more beneficial.
