Multiple causes: There is some important information missing. How old is your child? Is there joint swelling or just pain? Has he been on any medications? If he has been on medications particularly sulfa or penicillin antibiotics it may be an immune reaction. There is lyme disease which causes arthritis(swelling) and a rash as well as rheumatic fever which follows a strep infection by at least two weeks.

Poly arthralgia: Multiple joint involvement with "hives" should not be treated over the web. You should take your child to see a doctor if it is not better. The hives could be just a form of systemic rash that is seen with juvenile arthritis. If the doctor is still concerned about strep infection he/she would order aso titers.
