You can use it : It is safe to use Monistat while on your period. I recommend using it at bedtime. But you may notice things do improve on their own with your bleeding. I would decide whether to treat immediately by how bothersome your symptoms are. If you feel like you want to scratch your skin off, i'd use it now.
