Inflammation: Usually shaving axilla or reaction to deodorant may cause tender swollen nodes. Also cuts in the arms or nails could cause it. The numbness may be irritation of the nerve. Follow it closely if it worsens you may have to get it checked by an md.

Need to see a Doc: You seem to describe a neuritic pain in the area and the cause should be find, needs a good exam and possibly imaging.
