Bone pain, weakness: Rickets is a weakening of the bones due to a deficiency of vitamin d and/or calcium. Symptoms include bone pain, which in an infant may present as fussiness. Other symptoms include muscle weakness, bowing of the legs, muscle spasms, and poor growth. The american academy of pediatrics recommends all infants receive 400 iu of vitamin d daily to prevent rickets. Sun exposure also helps.
