Tinnitus: Ringing in the ear is called tinnitus. It can be from nerve irritation from the infection. A throat infection can spread to the ears. Or it can be a side effect from some antibiotics taken orally or intravenously. I doubt topical antibiotics would do that. Go back to the md, you may need medication by mouth.
