Not very: Glutamine is in everything you eat that's got protein. Your best supplement for bulk is creatine. The other thing that works is an electronic muscule stimulator unit if your physician is okay with it. Stay away from steroids; every guy i know who tried them was sorry. Glad you're lifting.
