A member asked:

Can antibiotics affect the results of a gestational diabetes test?

Possible: Certain antibiotics can raise the blood sugar but if the bs is high then that means a person is prone to dm even if they have not yet been diagnosed. Ask your doctor to do an a1c test as it gives a 3 month avg of bs instead of looking at the sugar in just 1 point in time.

Gestationa Diabetes: None of the antibiotics commonly used in pregnancy cause high blood sugars. It would be extremely unlikely that an antibiotic affected the result of a glucose tolerance test.
