Many things: Strong acids, or bases, infections such as pseudomonas or herpes or gonorrhea. Also, fungi, protozoa, and eating poorly cooked meat.Trauma, sunlight, wind, chronic diseases such as glaucoma or macular degeneration. Cataracts generally cause a reversible loss of vison.
