Diverticulitis: Diverticulitis is an infection of the colon that needs medical treatment and antibiotics. Light liquid foods are eaten during the active infection. Diverticulosis is pouches that form on the colon that are not infected. Diet for diverticulosis is high fiber foods, fruits and vegetables, avoid white bread, pasta, white rice, etc.

High fiber/veggies: There is reasonable data that suggest a high fiber, vegetable heavy diet help prevent active diverticular disease including diverticular bleeds and diverticulitis. Think green, leafy veggies as a staple!
