Yes and no: Premenstrual syndrome (pms) implies before menses begins, but similar symptoms may continue into the menstrual period. Pms is a widely used term, but diagnostically it requires that the same constellation of emotional symptoms occur for a specified period of time usually a few days on a regular schedule coinciding with menstruation.
