Familial Lumbar: Stenosis is listed in the online mendelian inheritance in man website (omim.Org) along with multiple other possibilities. Geneticists do evaluate adults; it would be nice if your primary care physicians would refer both of you to a geneticist at a near-by medical school or specialty center.
