Common: Nsaid (ibp or naprosyn) is routinely prescribed with a muscle relaxant in order to address inflammation / pain component and the spasm/pain component of a sprain/strain. Local cool compresses (if acute) or warm compresses (if >3-5 days present), can give additive benefit.
