Asthma and diving: Diving with asthma is a controversial topic. Potential divers with asthma should be evaluated individually by doctors experienced in asthma and diving to determine fitness to dive.

Asthma will be prob.: The diving medical community is divided on the question of asthmatics diving. The uk, which has the most permissive guidelines, allows people with well-controlled asthma, who meet several additional criteria, to dive under certain circumstances. In australia, it is essentially forbidden for asthmatics to dive. You should consult a diving medicine specialist in your area for specific details.

I agree w earlier: Response. Asthma can lead to significant problems in diving. I would encourage you to get checked by a diving/ hyperbaric physician - don't just go to the doctor who you think will clear you. Regarding how the respiratory system works with scuba - here is a good article: http://suite101.Com/article/good-breathing-techniques-for-scuba-diving-a218867.
