Might general anesthesia cause numbness to face and tounge?

Numbness of face...: Not general anesthesia, but the securing the airway or the head/face position. Probably, the use of the lma compressed some nerves deep into the walls of the throat or base of the tongue. Sometimes the facial nerve can get compressed by using a mask strap (bucal branch). It is rarely on both sides. Most will go away in several days. If not, consult your doctor or a neurologist.

See below: It is not unusual to have some tongue numbness after anesthesia. This occurs because the endotracheal tube that is placed to help you breathe can sometimes put pressure on the tongue. This numbness usually resolves within a few days. The facial numbness is more unusual and i would talk to the anesthesiologist who didi your case.
