A member asked:

What is the actual procedure of bone marrow transplantation?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

It is a bit complica: You will be given an IV infusion of stem cells, just like taking a blood transfusion. The stem cells can be taken from the bone marrow or from the peripheral blood. But there is a preparatory phase of giving chemotherapy and radiotherapy wwhich is called conditioning regimen, often given a few days ahead of infusing the stem cells.
