Please tell me how long it takes for to get results from a biopsy?

It depends...: Biopsy result turn around time is highly variable depending on the organ biopsied, the actual pathology that is there. Expected turn around time is 48 hours from the time of receipt of the specimen for a routine biopsy. However, there are many issues that can cause a specimen to be complicated such as breast biopsies need extra formalin fixation, special stains to identify tumors, and consults.
