Not Much: Smokers know the risks & what it does to them & will quite only if they want to. Trying to convince someone to quite will usually cause more porblems between you & them. You can make it clear you don't want them smoking around you, in your home or car & you can encourage them gently that you are concerned for their health, but anthing further becomes nagging & could lose you a friend.

Quitting smoking.: Cold turkey is the best way, but nicotine or cigarette tapering are viable options as well.
