Not ideal: A crown will sometimes stay very well without cement. If the crown happens to come off and you lose it you will have to start over.

No: It is never a good idea. Without a cement seal bacterial will get under the crown and damage the supporting tooth. There is additional risk that you could swallow it and it could get lodged in your intestine or worst aspirate the crown and you will need surgery to remove the crown or go into respiratory arrest. Either are really bad . Make the time and have it cemented. Not worth the risk.
