ENT doctor to check: An ENT doctor should evaluate a throat that has been sore for 1 month. An infection such as strep throat or a cold would have healed up by then. Allergies would cause noticeable mucus drip down the throat. Throat or palate ulcers would have healed up by then also, but sometimes new ones occur every few days. A doctor can look to see if there is a cancerous growth or something stuck in the throat.

A lot of things: A sore throat that lasts this long without other signs could be a deep infection, an inflammation, or even a throat cancer. Someone should examine your throat and possibly take some tests. Try gargling with warm salt water and use an antiseptic mouth wash/gargle, but don't put off help if this lasts or returns. Especially if you are losing weight or getting dehydrated. Could be really serious.
