Snake bite: Get a photo of the snake if you can, not getting too close. This might help doctors in deciding about antivenom. Remove restrictive items like jewelry (swelling may make these hard to remove). Immobilize the limb, and keep it lower than your heart. Get to the er as quickly as you can. Do not cut into the wound and try to suck out venom.

Agree w Dr. Pappas.: It the type of snake is known – call ahead to emergency room so that that they can be prepared (anti-venom). Both venomous ; non-venomous bites require wound care. Recommend tetanus booster if none in last 5 years. Try not to move effected limb. Support the person or carry to vehicle. The bitten person should not run. Remove potentially constricting items such as rings or watch. Transport person.
