Many Options: In my office I have about 5-6 types of dental local anesthesia. I use them based on the procedure i'm doing, and where that procedure happens to be in the mouth. I agree with dr. Brodsky; however, i also use carbocaine, marcaine, polocaine, and citanest on a fairly regular basis, each has different amounts of Epinephrine (the substance that increases duration of anesthesia). No "novacaine".
