A member asked:

What is the safest immunosuppressive medication for treating an autoimmune disorder that can be used for long periods?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

All have side effect: All of our agents have potential risks and benefits with the benefit of putting your autoimmune disease in remission. Each disease has certain drugs that work best for the condition so ideally we would need to know the condition to comment. Some would consider low dose Prednisone 5 mg a day to not be so bad compared to the other immunosuppressive agents.
