Either or both: Some women can experience pain with ovulation. Sometimes it can persist for several days after. In some cases it may even start after ovulation. Generally speaking, women that have pain at every ovulatory event report a single day at mid-cycle of pain. If it persists for several days or is severe, it may be indicating a problem and you should be evaluated.

Likely mittleschmerz: Many women feel small pains around ovulation, before-during-or after - its called mittleschmerz. There are some abnormal causes of pain around ovulation but most often it's normal.
