A member asked:

I have an enlarged left thyroid nodule with a fast pulse while pregnant. what causes this?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

First, the nodule: Requires work up. It may or may not be causing more thyroid hormone release. If your thyroid levels are elevated (tsh can be low just from early pregnancy, don't go just on that), then an uptake scan to see metabolism in the nodule needs to get done. They may be holding off b/c of early pregnancy. May benefit from metoprolol for tachycardia, may need biopsy to determine cause. Follow w/doc.
