Cardura (doxazosin): Cardura (doxazosin) was originally prescribed for high blood pressure but it is more often prescribed for benign prostatic hypertrophy which can go up to 8 mg. You should always take medication as they are prescribed by your doctor. If you ever have questions or want to change a dose of prescription medications you should always consult with your doctor first. Normally Cardura (doxazosin) is taken at night due to its drowsiness side effect.

Be careful!: That dose sounds awfully high as a starting dose! you're right - we usually start with the 1mg dose and build up, because the last thing you want is to get up in the middle of the night and fall to the ground because your blood pressure has plummeted from too high of a starting dose. Ask your doctor about Flomax (tamsulosin) as an aid to passing your kidney stone. Be sure to strain your urine to get the stone!
