A member asked:

Chest pain on and off for more than 3 years. it can feel like burning or like pain. history of issues with gerd and used to have acid reflux when younger. regular weed smoker for many years. no other symptoms. could this be something serious?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

More description of the chest pains is needed. Long-standing smoking raises concerns for lung pathology. Musculoskeletal rib cage or esophageal problems are possibilities. Cardiac issues causing chest discomfort are less likely. Has your MD examined you, ordered a chest X-Ray or EKG, suggested an upper endoscopy by a gastroenterologist?
