Radiology nurse says to change a pigtail cath, a wire is put in, the old one slipped off and the new one slipped over the same wire. under xray. how is it really done? healthtap reply was useless. reply from another appreciated?

A cath is put in first, then a wire advanced into into it to help guode the cath. If a diffenent cath is needed wire is left in and the cath pulled out and a new one needed is advanced over the wire. At least in US. Maybe they do things differentrly up there. I would ask another person up there. You can prob Google it and see a YouTube on cardiac cath.
