A member asked:

Felt as is hit my head (but did not). mild irritant no headaches. consultant said 99.9% nothing to worry about but referred me for cat scan. result simply said cortical atrophy of frontal lobes. is this normal for a 63 year old ? no symptoms?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

As we age, we are all subjected to brain atrophy, and frontal lobe areas are often the most easily visualized on a CAT scan. The key issue involves the presence of progressive loss of cognitive ability, consistent with evolving dementia. Since this is not the case for you, thankfully, you are most likely exhibiting appropriate signs of aging.
