A member asked:

We did not use protection the night before i got my iud out. but since i still had my iud in that night am i still considered protective even though i got my iud out the following day? i read sperm can still live in the vagina for up to 5 days?

If your next period is delayed, wait five days after the expected date and obtain a "home" pregnancy test, as the possible fertilized egg may persist now that the birth control aspect of the IUD was removed.

If an antiseptic was used in the vagina before or after that would kill the sperms. also it takes a few days for the uterus lining to normalize after pulling the IUD out, also you have to be in the ovalutory phase so the possibility is extremely rare but not 0
