My 3 year old has strep throat and is it common to also have sore red crack lips and very dry sunburn skin?

"Strep throat," streptococcal pharyngitis. is uncommon in 3-y-o child. Sore cracked lips and sunburn-like skin finding are not compatible with typical strep throat either.

Scarlatina is one form of strep infection where the strep germ creates a special toxin that triggers this specific faint red rash. The added features will fade when the germ is killed by meds. The rash areas may peal like a sunburn. The added features are inconvenient but does not indicate a more serious outcome as long as proper meds are taken.
