Pre-exposure prophylaxis with doxycycline to prevent syphilis and chlamydia (Doxy-PrEP) is very effective for men who have sex with men at high risk (e.g. condomless sex). CDC soon will formally recommend it for MSM; many doctors already are prescribing it. The dose is 200 mg taken soon after sex and no later than 72 hr. It is not to be taken on an ongoing basis, just 1 dose after high risk sex.
