A member asked:

Hi, i am wondering what coolief is all about? how is this procedure done? does it involve burning the nerves in the knee? this is were i would be having it done. help you can explain? thanks?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Coolief is radiofrequency (type of energy) ablation (meaning it wipes out something). This is basically burning the nerves so they will not feel pain. A probe is placed in the tissue that is getting the treatment and a small current of radiofrequency energy is transmitted through the probe and everything is cooled by water. The nerves that send pain messages to the brain are de-activated
