Tetanus arises when a cut or puncture wound is invaded by the spores which then form an infection. The flourishing germs elaborate the toxin responsible for the disease. The cited exposure is not a common site for tetanus spores. If there is never an infection, tetanus would not happen. However, consider a tetanus shot soon. Protection fades by 10 years after the last shot.
