HSV1 typically causes oral cold sores, more rarely genital sores. This test indicates past exposure and that it is somewhere in your system (the virus finds a home in nerve cells). If you don't get outbreaks there is nothing for you to do since there is no treatment to eliminate it. If you get outbreaks (which is when you could pass it to others) there are treatments that can help to suppress it.
