it is recommended to use additional forms of contraception, such as condoms, for the first 7 days after getting the Nexplanon implant to ensure maximum effectiveness. After that initial period, Nexplanon is considered highly effective at preventing pregnancy for up to 3 years. However, no form of contraception is 100% effective, there is still a small risk of pregnancy even when using Nexplanon.
