Sex too soon!: Chlamydia is a small bacteria with an extracellular infectious phase (resistant to antibiotics) and an intracellular phase where antibiotics to which it is sensitive can kill it. The antibiotic must be present at therapeutic levels during the entire 48 hour life cycle of the organism to kill it. The antibiotic has to be absorbed & concentrate in cells. No sex for 7 after antibiotic initiation!
