Hyperlipidemia ( high cholesterol,high LDL,low HDL&,high triglycerides) is only one predisposing factor in coronary artery disease. Smoking,family history,hypertension are also important. When we see a coronary patient without these risk factors, we check for high homocysteine levels. I'm a believer in high dose statins like crestor for patients like your husband irrespective of lipid levels.
