I have reflux daily which comes up into my throat for almost 5 years. my throat hurts all day. i have a dental appointment coming up and the dentist is insisting on x-rays of my mouth. i am fearful of x-rays on my raw throat. should i be fearful?

I wouldn't consider dental X-rays a problem in this setting. It is important to detecting early signs of treatable damage to your teeth. Reflux to that degree does create greater risk for your oral health and should be properly monitored.
