If your doctor gives you antibiotics for bacterial infection and infection ends up being a virus, will the antibiotics have a bad effect on the body?

ABX: If you indeed have a virus and ended up taking antibiotics, the main issue is possible killing off of good bacteria. Make sure that you take probiotics through probiotic supplements or intake of yougurt. Just make sure you do what your physician suggests, and eat probiotics to help recolonize any imbalance.

See below: The antibiotics will not make the viral infection worse but they will not help either. All antibiotics have potential side effects and toxicities and also alter the normal bacterial flora of the intestines.
