Ive had an iud in for 5 years and no bleeding or period. all of the sudden today i got cramps and an bleeding. i had a recent visit with a gynecologist for something different and i started bleeding a week after that appt. whats happening?

No period after IUD is a side effect, not an intended treatment you get from this device. The bleeding which occurs after seeing a GYN doctor with a pelvic exam is probably coincidental. So you may start having period or erratic bleeding due to IUD from now on. Good luck.
