A recovery time of 2 wks sounds sufficient for a mild to moderate strain. Stretch before and after. Have fun but don't overdo it. If it starts hurting again, stop playing. If your pain is severe, see your PCP.

I believe any and all muscle injuries require a period of healing. Then rehab of stretching / strengthening. You do not want to start activity unless you can protect yourself from activity.
