Tonsilitis: You sound like you are describing your tonsils (look like prunes) that are on either side of your throat. White or yellow spots could be food debris or localized infection. Visit your pcp or dentist for definitive diagnosis and or treatment. If this is a recurring problem, you may need to have them removed by an ent. Check with your pcp for a definitive diagnosis.

Tonsil stones: At the back of the throat are structures called tonsils. They may look like pink golf balls, but are more like a head of cauliflower with crypts that can trap bits of food, debris and bacteria. On occasion, calcifications ("tartar" like on teeth) or infections can develop in these crypts. All infections smell bad. Gargling with salt water or listerine may help, but sometimes you need to see a doc.
